Santos began their existance back
in 1912 and dominated Brazilian football back in the 1960s where they one no less than 8 State championships, 6 National Championships, the Intercontinental and the Copa Libertadores both twice.
Their home ground is the Villa Belmiro stadium which holds just over 20,000 partisan fans.
The football lovers of today will know that Kaka and Robinho
made their mark here before gracing the European stage but the
true football purists will know that a certain Edison Arantes do Nascimento otherwise
known to the world as Pele brought fame to this club.
How Dominant have this team been since the retirement of Pele? Well lets just say they have only been National Champions twice courtesy of messrs Robinho and Kaka.
Other players who were the supporting cast to Pele were the likes of Coutinho and Pepe
Pele spent 17 years at the club where he started as a 15-year-old apprentice back in 1956.
For decades they have been nicknamed Peixe which means fish even though there usual Mascot is a whale and their full white kit is as famous as the aforementioned Pele.
In 1998 they became the first team in football history to pass the 10,000 goal mark.
