FC Porto History
CLUB HONOURS

Now playing their home games at the Estadio do Dragao Futebol Clube de Porto (otherwise known as FC Porto) were founded in 1893 by Antonio Nicolau de Almeida. The stadium was originally built as a venue for Euro 2004. Before then they called Estadio das Antas home for 51 years.

Always on the outside looking in against the likes of Benfica and Sporting Lisbon, FC Porto became a dominant force in Portuguese soccer winning 13 championships over a 20 period (1984-2004) and not finishing outside of the top 3 since 1977. Considering they won the championship a mere six times during the previous 50 years that in it's own right is a huge achievement.

In the new millennium under recently departed charismatic coach Jose Mourinho they managed to write their names in the history books and win the Uefa Cup and the Champions League in back to back seasons. The latter being totally regarded as outright underdogs throughout the entire tournament.

Teofilio Cubillas, Deco and more recently Maniche are some of the more famed players to pull on the blue and white uniform for the 'Dragons'.
