Boca
Juniors are one of the two most popular teams in Argentina.
Based in Buenos Aires its home games are played at the Bonbonera
(chocolate box) stadium.
Boca holds 15 international titles, including five Copa Libertadores
and three Intercontinental Cups rivaled only by European
Giants AC Milan and Real Madrid.
Founded in 1905 by five Italian immigrants, the team played
in pink jerseys which was quickly abandoned for thin black-and-white
vertical stripes switching to their now famous blue and gold
in 1907.
Promoted
to the top division in 1913 when it was expanded from six teams
to 15, Boca has never been relegated. They have won six amateur
championships and with the introduction of professional football
in Argentina, Boca won their first title in 1931
Being the two biggest football clubs in Argentina, and due to
the rivalry between them, the Boca-River Plate game other wise
known as the Superclasico is considered one of the most thrilling
'Local Derbies' in the world.
Boca's supporters are known as "the 12th man" because
of the influence that they have on rival teams, especially in
home games where their cheering is loudly heard on the pitch.
Diego Maradona, Gabriel Batistuta and Juan Roman Riquelme are
just a few famous names to move from Boca to
footballing fame in Europe
Boca
hold the Argentinian record for forty consecutive unbeaten league
