Sevilla began their existance back in October of 1905 and had to wait 40 years to win their first major trophy. which was the Copa del Rey.

Only recently starting to come to the forefront of both Spanish and European football under the watchful eye of then head coach Juande Ramos who is now with Tottenham Hotspurs in England, with back to back victories in the UEFA Cup winning both in 2006 and in 2007 beating Middlesboro of England and fellow Spanish team Espanyol respectively. Afeat done last by Real Madrid in the mid eighties.

They also went on to lift the UEFA Super Cup in 2006. They had to both play and lose the 2007 Super Cup with a heavy heart after the unfortunate death of defender Antonio Puerta in the first game of the 2007-08 season.

Being led from the front by rejuvinated striker Freddie Kanoute and Luis Fabiano as an impressive supporting cast, Sevilla has grown into one of the most respected teams in Europe.

After their second place finish in La Liga the club entered for the first time the group stages of the Champions League for the 2007-08 season bowing out in the round of sixteen.

Being able to hold on to Prize Brazilian defender Daniel Alves along with the likes of Fabiano and Kanoute will do much to help them progress as a force to be reckoned with in Europe.
